Sometime in the last year, updates seem to have fixed the problem I had and Logic 8 is working, more or less, as it should without my having to reauthorize each time.

This app does not appear to launch under Lion.

Can confirm 8.0.2 does not work for me either.

Thanks.

This is a bum deal as I don't have to cash to upgrade to LPv9. Damn it.

Same as Lex… I think that apple not supporting the two most recent releases of pro applications on their latest OS is really shitty. I hope they release a patch for this - otherwise I will have wasted my £300.

And my Lion purchase which I just made (haven't installed yet).

It's retarded if they don't release a patch for this. But who knows, i mean they haven't been updating the app in a very long time, and it's quite unstable even on Snow. PT FTW!

I read online a fix for this. Go to the applications folder in finder to the logic app.

Right click and choose 'show package contents'

Click Contents then MacOS then double click the logic pro exe file.

This opens a terminal window briefly. After that logic pro 8 should open and operate fine.

Waiting until there are some confirmations of Doug's tip. Logic 8 has a few issues in Snow Leopard that I can live with. But I can't live without Logic Pro 8.

Thank you too Doug, your suggested fix worked as it should!

I have it running with Dougs method too. Wether or not Apple will release an update for its older software to work without having to do this remains to be seen. I hope for many customers sake they do.

to instal logic 8 you must have installed rosetta on your machine, i'm not sure if it can run on lion at all then :((

I tried Doug's trick, and it did work once after I entered my serial number and stuck in my emagic usb key (because I upgraded from Logic 6).
The next time, though, it asked me for my serial number again. It might have to do with being an upgrade from 6, but it will probably be easier to reboot into my Snow Leopard partition when I want to use Logic.
Hoping Logic 10 is around the corner…

It is possible to create an Automator script to run Logic 8 using the terminal command. Google those instructions, as I am not well-versed in Automator/Terminal and copied and pasted.

[ James]JamesAnonymous 11 Sep 2011 02:40

All this script does is go into the Logic package and navigate to the Unix executable file and run it. You can do this yourself and just create an alias to use as an icon from your desktop and save yourself the bother of using Automator or Terminal.

Better fix.
Right click (or control-click) Logic pro Icon. Select "Show Package Contents".
Open "Contents" folder.
Double click Info.plist file to edit it in text edit.
Find the part that says:

<key>LSRequiresCarbon</key>
<true/>

And delete it.

Save the file.

You should now be able to open Logic Pro 8 normally in Lion.

I read all of you but I can't install my Logic Pro 8 on Lion because it's a PPC application.

Have you any solution to fix it ?

Thanks
