My VPN solution no longer works. Looks like DNS or DHCP issues thou I'm not completely sure because I just dabble in VPN setups. I can only say the only thing that's changed is my OS. I've had the same access setup from Leopard and I've always access my company network with no issue. Now, in the details window the Network traffic starts off TUN/TAP Bytes stop going in/out after a few seconds. I can't ping any website. Within Network settings I see the DNS IP's change to my companies but again I can't ping anything. Viscosity has a imported .ovpn with ALL default settings.

any other has that problem under 10.8 ?

Yeah, I'm seeing a failure to pass DNS traffic over the VPN tunnel after an upgrade to 10.8.

Right after I wrote that comment, I saw a notification for an update to viscosity. Installing it - version 1.4 (1070) - seems to have fixed the dns issues I was having

Lion (10.7) Comments

Could anyone explain the current note "[…] you are not totally hidden because of the big changes in Lion firewall. Viscosity need to update to support Lion."?

Visocity 1.3.3 works fine for me on 10.7GM.

Developer here: Viscosity 1.3.3 works fine under the current Mac OS 10.7 GM release (and hence presumably the full release when it becomes available).

The only known issue is that the tun/tap drivers (not Viscosity itself) may cause a kernel panic when waking from sleep if the network environment has changed. We've already worked around the issue, however as it is such a rare occurrence most users won't see it occur. We'll be pushing out a version update with a workaround when 10.7 becomes available.

As for the notes added by an anonymous user regarding "big changes in Lion firewall", they can be safely ignored. As a VPN client Viscosity has nothing to do with the Mac OS X firewall, and in addition we have had no trouble applying traffic rules for VPN traffic (for users into that kind of thing).
