Does this mean you loose all and any 64-bit benefits when switching from Lion to ML on a 2008 Mac Pro?
Doesn't work in 10.8
Works fine in 10.7
I'm putting the finishing touches on the all-new RoaringApps, with support for Mavericks & iOS 7.
Try it out now and help me squash some bugs.

There is no 32-bit kernel in OS X Mountain Lion, and it requires Macs that are completely 64-bit.

No…. it means it's ONLY 64-bit

Mountain Lion runs at 64-bit only. 32- or 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selector cannot make it run at 32-bit.

default for snow leopard is 32-bit if that is what you mean

Doesn't work on my system - Late 2010 MacBook Air 13" running OS X Lion DP4.

It doesn't work on any late 2010 MacBook Air 13" (or 11.6") running any version of OS X. They don't allow booting 64-bit kernel on this machine (I have one too), or they have changed the way you select kernel to something nobody has figured out yet.

I wouldsugggest its related to the fact, that Lion *only* runs 64-bit, so there's no need nor the possibility to change a kernel!

Moritz, Not true…I'm running a 2011 quad-core MBP with Mac OS X 10.7 (11A511) GM seed in 32-bit kernel mode.
From System Profiler-
64-bit Kernel and Extensions: No
95% of the running processes are 64-bit, but the kernel can run 32-bit.
My MacPro is also running 10.7 GM Seed in 32-bit kernel mode so the NewerTech 6G eSATA RAID card will work. With 64-bit kernel it panics just after login. 32-bit kernel it works fine.

it work with Mac OS X 10.7 GM upgrade to snow leopard iMac 9.1 64-bit is ok
[ Zero]ZeroAnonymous 06 Sep 2011 01:22
Ross did you have to switcu it to 32bit or did it boot like that automatic
[ Ray White]Ray WhiteAnonymous 08 Dec 2011 11:00
Some older Macs default to 32-bit kernel even with Lion, but 32- or 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selector can be used to persuade them to run the 64-bit kernel. Quite why older machines do this is a mystery that Apple don't explain…
