Once Snapz Pro X is installed, a single keystroke can immediately save anything visible on screen in a wide variety of image file formats. Using Snapz Pro X, you don't have to tell people about how cool a game is or how to use a particular program – you can just take a picture or movie of it and show them. Snapz Pro X supports saving screen images as .bmp, .pict, .gif, .jpg, .png, .tiff, .pdf, or Photoshop files, and can even record the action as a QuickTime movie!

From the Developer:

"The current version (2.3.3) of Snapz Pro X is not fully compatible with Mac OS X Mountain Lion, 10.8:

  • Screen, Selection, and Movie captures (including the microphone track) still work.
  • Using the Object capture will cause Snapz to crash.
  • Mac Audio capture will not work. The KEXT used for Mac Audio capture should be uninstalled automatically by the OS. If used, it will result in a kernel panic."

No ETA on an update yet.

Works with Lion. Update your program if it doesn't.

Snapz Pro X v2.3.3 shows up as incompatible with Mountain Lion via the native OS warning right after installing OS X 10.8. Additionally, the vendor acknowledges incompatibility with OS X 10.8 with a promise to update soon as of July 2012.

Works all, except in video. It does not record Mac Audio Track. Simple workaround by connecting a male-male headphone cable from headphones jack to microphone, but a little annoying to do.

SnapzPro v 2.3.3 very repeatably crashes iMac i7 running Mac OSX 10.8.1 while trying to capture video. Works fine with still images but after starting to capture an MOV, the machine instantly reboots without warning. Happens every time. Condition persists even after a clean install of OS.
