Initially had some problems with Growl notifications (i.e. they weren't showing up at all). Reinstalling Growl fixed the problem.

Since updating to Lion, my Google notifier keeps freezing and quitting — it's frozen right now, for example — so I wouldn't describe it as working fine. I'm trying reinstalling it, but I already did that once, so I don't have high hopes.

Every time I start Google Notifier, it pops up and tells me that Growl isn't installed and gives me the option to press a button and install it. Miraculously, it tells me that it can do this without downloading anything so I'm not entirely sure whether it's going to install Growl or install its own Growl support…

I've removed Google Notifier, downloaded the latest version and re-installed. I thought the problem was fixed, but as soon as the next email check, the popup occurred again.

I had to disable it. It was causing freezes and crashes in all my browsers in an apparent conflict with Flash plugins, or growl, as a previous poster has noted. Everything works fine now, no crashes since Notifier was disabled.
