History:
Essentially a bumped Late '06 model, Apple inserted this model into the lineup in an effort to refresh the MacBook in cadence with the Pro models. Unlike the Late '06 models, this iteration was given a choice of processors, with the effect that the black-clad model would essentially mirror a top-end white model and garner much less of a premium than was perceived in the first two releases of the MacBook.
Being a mild speed bump, Apple chose not to issue a unique Model ID. It does, however, bear slightly differing part numbers to the '06 model it took over for. It is listed here so as to complete the MacBook category.
Other Notes:
- Includes AirPort Extreme with 802.11n draft 2.0.support enabled by default.
- Is one of only two first- or second-generation Intel notebooks making the cut for Windows 7 while missing Mountain Lion.
